Travel Guide
The conference is located at the University of York.
A short guide to travel to the university is given below, but more details, directions and maps can be found on the university website here.
- By car:
- York is best approached by the M1 and A64. The city and university are well signed from the A64.
- By bus:
- National Express buses run to York.
- By train:
- York is on the fast East Coast Main Line from London (Kings Cross) to Edinburgh, taking about 2 hours from London and 3 hours from Edinburgh. York is also on the Trans-Pennine network (Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle), and Virgin Cross Country (Birmingham, Oxford, Bristol). Further information and train times can be found at the National Rail Enquiries website.
- By plane:
- The local airport is Leeds-Bradford, from which coaches run to Leeds and York train stations. Manchester Airport is slightly further, but much bigger, and has an excellent direct train service.
Once in York, the futuristic number 4 bus (a purple, "bendy" bus) goes from outside the train station, and York Dungeon in the city, to the university. The closest bus stop to the NSLC is Morrell Library.
