Dr Roger Colbeck

Research group:
PhD (Cambridge)

Following research positions at Homerton College in Cambridge, ETH Zurich (Switzerland) and the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics (Canada), I am now a lecturer in mathematics at the University of York. My research spans many aspects of quantum information theory with a particular focus on quantum cryptography, as well as the foundations of quantum mechanics.

I have been interested in science from an early age, gaining particular inspiration by reading popular science books while at school. I chose the field of quantum information theory because it brings together three major disciplines: mathematics, physics and computer science with the broad goal of understanding what power the laws of physics give us for processing information.
