I have been working in the Department of Mathematics for nearly two decades now. I love the campus' and am proud of the University of York. I started to take staff photographs for the Department's news submission for the University magazine (if staff didn't have one they liked), and then happened to be asked to put together a staff photo poster in 2012 which had a lot of my photos. I enjoy all public lectures I can get to and have been allowed to take photos during the events e.g. 'Pint of Science' York in May 2015 and a YCCSA lecture and exhibition. Professor Reidun Twarock liked some photos enough to illustrate her research group page, Professor Yvette Hancock (Physics) has too, introduced to me by their joint PhD student.

I have some albums on Facebook, but I prefer to use a free service to host my photos (mostly of the Department of Mathematics, but I've branched out and take any people I come across at the University of York).   I feature in the University of York #HumansOfYork Facebook series; look for no.52 (22 December 2014) and the link to my album's page; and have posted a 2015 Roses album on their site. If I've taken a picture of you and you want a copy or you want it removed, email a copy the link to the photo; I am always happy to volunteer my primitive photography services where I am able to fit it in in my own time, around my part-time work (60%), and two hours voluntary YCGF coaching school term-time, and family life!

My best wildlife shot so far perhaps, selected by Dr Jon Pitchford was used in a recent press release; I was rather brave, and very lucky, to capture this shot on Heslington West campus; see

Other photos of staff and students have been published outside the Department of Mathematics' website:

A few crops of my photos can be found in the University of York Monopoly set; I have a complimentary set!

The Institute of mathematics & its applications (IMA) published one of my group photos of the Tomorrow's Mathematicians Today 2015 undergraduate conference on page 62 'Mathematics TODAY ' April 2015; I have a complimentary copy!

Dr Henna Koivusalo, visiting research fellow, a former postdoctoral research associate of research fellow Dr Alan Haynes, appeared in a Finnish newspaper called "Riihimäen Viikkouutiset";  Dr Henna Koivusalo (Mathematics) was interviewed about the role of mathematics in everyday life and her research into fractal geometry; Henna's translation of this article can be found here.

Professor Sanju Velani, appeared on the EPSRC website and in the EPSRC Pioneer magazine September 2012 edition.

One photo of Professor Evgeni Skylanin FRS once illustrated the University of York's front page.

Emeritus Professor Nigel Cutland's photo was edited (background removed) and printed in the Guardian supplement on page 3 of edition 11th December 2010 in the 'Money section'.

A photo of Nicholas Page (Mathematics Graduate Administrator) before he gave a lunch-time organ recital for charity at Central Methodist Church, St. Saviourgate, York, appeared in a book entitled 'The Best Days of Our Lives? Secondary Education in York 1900-1985' - ISBN 978-1 874454 49 6.
