Gallery of old photos below, now I'm using Flickr.  I became no.52 in the University of York #HumansOfYork Facebook series 22 December 2014.

Personal interests include:

Photography - Living in York and working on campus has lead to an interest in photography. Above is a collection of snapshots taken since 2007/2008 academic year. The Department has been kind to allow me to publish photos on its website. Many staff photos have been published in University magazine issues. My husband initially gave me a small compact camera for my birthday in 2008 and then built me a pc and gave me a better camera for another birthday in 2011. I joined York PhotoSoc October 2013 and am learning about the art of photography with its members. I've been enjoying my husband's photography for years. The Department of Mathematics has four of his photos in its galleries - Minster, another Minster shotMinster ceiling shot, my latest portrait.  I admire his photography, manual dexterity and flare for problem solving (see Adventuresinamateurwatchfettling and his work on my father's Tudor Oyster here).

Photo publishing success: A photo or Dr Henna Koivusalo, a postdoctoral research associate of research fellow Dr Alan Haynes, has been published in a Finnish newspaper called "Riihimäen Viikkouutiset";  Dr Henna Koivusalo (Mathematics) was interviewed about the role of mathematics in everyday life and her research into fractal geometry; Henna's translation of this article can be found here. A photo, of Professor Sanju Velani has appeared on the EPSRC website and in the EPSRC Pioneer magazine September 2012 edition, of Professor Evgeni Skylanin FRS has been published on the University of York's front page, of emeritus Professor Nigel Cutland in the Guardian newspaper print version (page 3, 11th December 2010, Money section), of Nicholas Page (Mathematics Graduate Secretary) appeared in a book entitled 'The Best Days of Our Lives? Secondary Education in York 1900-1985' - ISBN 978-1 874454 49 6.

Sport interests me in a similar way to photography in that I look for geometric lines and shapes. I volunteer as a recreational gymnastics coach at the York Community & Gymnastics Foundation (YCGF) two hours a week and study Taekwondo (York TAGB) under Gavin Cooke since 2015 after Andy Parr (2nd in the world in 2007) stopped teaching in 2014. I am currently 2nd Kup (Red belt) and am working on my fitness and technique. I took part in the TAGB English Championships 2012 in Telford (in a group of only three competitors) and was placed 2nd in the Blue belt, Lightheavy weight division, losing to Claire Burke, astrophysics PhD student at Liverpool John Moores University), and was awarded a large trophy.
