Enquiries and Applications

Enquiries

If you have any questions about the course or the application process, please write to the Graduate Administrator, Department of Mathematics, University of York, York YO10 5DD, United Kingdom, fax: +44-(0)1904-323071, email: maths-graduate-admissions@york.ac.uk or call the Department of Mathematics, University of York at +44-(0)1904-323070.

How to Apply

Please follow this link to submit an online application. For detailed instructions follow this link.

Paper applications are accepted only in exceptional circumstances, for example, a disability that would make completing an online application difficult. If you would like to submit a paper application, please contact Postgraduate Admissions, email: pg-admissions@york.ac.uk or telephone +44-(0)1904 324000.

The application should consist  of:

  • Completed application form.
  • Curriculum Vitae.
  • Copies of diplomas and academic or professional certificates, degree certificates and/or award letters.
  • Copies of academic transcripts including a list of courses, with marks.
  • Two academic references. References from an employer may also be acceptable.  Please provide email addresses for your referees when completing the online application form so that references can be requested directly by the University of York.  It would be helpful if you could also provide complete postal addresses for your referees
  • Evidence of proficiency in English, if required (please see Language Requirements).

There is no need to delay submitting your application if not all documents are yet available or if you have not yet met all Entry Requirements. We can often issue conditional offers, subject to providing any remaining documents and meeting the entry requirements by the starting date of the MSc programme.

Students who require a Tier 4 visa and who have already studied in the UK should be aware that they will only be granted a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) for a further course if:

  • their new course represents academic progress from their previous studies (for example, if they are applying to study for an MSc after they complete their undergraduate course), or
  • they are going to study for a qualification which enhances or complements their previous studies (if they have previously studied on one MSc programme and wish to study on another one).

Currently, there is no deadline for applications.

We shall be happy to respond to email enquiries, which should be sent to maths-graduate-admissions@york.ac.uk. However, we regret that we are unable to accept applications by email.
