Research Interests

I have been working in the past few years on issues related to applications of symmetry groups to the mechanics of materials.
Among other things, I have applied the theory of anisotropic invariants to the characterization of the mechanical response of textiles, as determined by the geometry of the weave.
Later, I have worked on the formulation and the numerical solution of classification and identification problems for crystals, and related point sets in any dimension, using group theory.
Currently, I am working with Prof. R. Twarock on the geometrical description, modelization and prediction of structural transitions of viral capsids, combining ideas of high-dimensional crystallography, quasicrystals and lattice transitions.
