Teaching Opportunities for Research Students

It is quite common for research students to be offered the possibility of teaching undergraduates within the Department's seminar system, which is the support teaching system for first and second year undergraduates. Postgraduates who wish to teach will attend a series of training sessions which help them develop and improve their teaching, as well as familiarise them with the teaching system we use. As part of this training each postgraduate who teaches is assigned a teaching mentor: an experienced member of staff who will act as teaching advisor. This includes the student observing the mentor teach and vice versa.
