New lectureship positions available


We are seeking to appoint at least two new lecturers to enhance our research and teaching.  Applications are welcomed from well-qualified candidates interested in any of our existing areas of activity, with strong applications in the areas of Mathematical Finance or Statistics particularly encouraged.

Remembering Luke Tresloggett


On 19th January 2012, members of Luke Tresloggett's family were joined by current and former staff from the Mathematics Department to plant a tree in Luke's honour.

Luke studied Mathematics at the University of York between 1993 and 1996 and after graduating joined Towers Watson as a software consultant. He enjoyed every aspect of his time at York and felt that his experiences here played a major part in enabling him to pursue a successful career.

Interdisciplinary PhD Studentships


The CIDCATS (Combating Infectious Disease: Computational Approaches in Translational Science) interdisciplinary PhD Programme in Infectious Disease is funded by the Wellcome Trust.  This four-year PhD training programme will provide students (including those with a strong background in a non-biological science,  engineering or mathematics) with in-depth knowledge of infectious diseases and the interdisciplinary skills necessary to conduct research.
