Mathematics Colloquium

The colloquium returns in the Autumn Term when we will have two talks, in Weeks 7 and 10.

Colloquia normally take place on Wednesdays at 14:15. The typical length of the talks is about 1 hour.

The talk is concerned with the problem of the entry of a solid wedge into a bath of liquid. There are a number of applications of this, and also an interesting history. The talk will survey these, then model the problem and discuss the mathematics necessary for its solution.
